The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards is once again, going to be one of the star-packed events of the year. MTV has announced that Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne have all been added to the show.


Nicki is rumored to include a 'secret guest.'

This will be 2 Chainz's first appearance at the VMAs, with Lil Wayne expected to perform his single, "No Worries."

Frank Ocean, Taylor Swift, Pink and Green Day are all also expected to take the stage at Staples Center. Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller are among the presenters.

2 Chainz Discusses His Album Features

One of the HOTTEST MC's in the game.. *shrugs*

2 Chainz has done quite a few guest features over the past year. The Atlanta hip hop star says that he took that approach to make sure his name stayed out there; he wanted to be affiliated with as many track as he could.

“My whole theory behind doing guest features was to remain hot in the streets,” he explained to CBS Local. ”Actually being a part of everyone’s google. When you google them, my name would pop up."

“The Justin Bieber verse was something I could do,” he noted. “The challenge was doing a clean witty verse without cursing, and to know the fan base and the crowd I was catering to. It was fun. I would love to do more records like that.”

“Now it’s about doing features that matter or can help catapult my campaign or doesn’t make sense any more,” he added. “A feature that’s worth me doing would be something that’s outside my genre, something outside my comfort level, outside my box. Pop rock, R&B. Something that’s not a normal 16 [lines] that I feel like I can do ion my sleep.”

With his high-profile appearances alongside Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music camp, many have speculated whether or not Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz is officially signed to West's imprint. In an interview with Complex, 2 Chainz shared the details regarding his relationship with Kanye and the G.O.O.D. Music family.



"I'm not officially signed, paperwork-wise, to G.O.O.D. Music. But I have a great rapport with 'Ye. He called me before Watch the Throne came out," 2 Chainz said. "I'm an only child. I've got trust issues. So I don't have a best friend, a brother, sister--nothing. Stuff was happening in my life that I couldn't tell nobody. I didn't have anybody in my life that I could tell, like, 'Ye just called me.'"


"I've talked to 'Ye 1,000 times about trying to make this situation work for the both of us, so it won't feel like anyone is getting used or anything," he continued. "I'm in a position in life where I like talking about things like that. I came from a situation with DTP, being under Luda, where I got a phobia. Sometimes when an artist signs another artist, they're so worried about themselves. And with 'Ye, he helps everybody."
