Nas Gives Jay Z his Props

Nasir talks Hip Hop & Jay Z...

The relationship between Nas and Jay-Z has gone through ups and downs. The two were acquaintances before becoming foes in their infamous 2001 feud. Years after sparring via bars, the emcees patched things up and became partners when Jay-Z signed Nas to Def Jam. Recently, Nas was asked to speak on Jay's legacy. In response, Nas noted that the culture of Hip Hop should be thankful of what Jay-Z has accomplished in his career.

"Hip Hop has to thank God for Jay-Z," Nas acknowledged in an interview with Peter Rosenberg. "The fact that that he’s doing what he’s doing is a an awakening call for all of the Gods and Earths to wake up and understand that this generation is bigger than what we can even fathom. He is one of the only ones out of the whole community that we grew up in, from the Run DMC days, who’s taken this shit seriously, taken this shit very seriously musically and businesses wise. That’s powerful. So you've gotta respect him.”

Nas went on to add that his generation of Hip Hop is still setting trends and taking a stance to speak out.

"We died to get here. My blood is in the soil of this country. This generation of Hip Hop, we're making a stance. We're saying what we gotta say. We didn't graduate Harvard. We didn't graduate Princeton. Nothing against them niggas...Yeah, they niggas, too. They ignorant as fuck. But, we real niggas that made it. We set trends. Niggas is tastemakers, whatever the fuck that means. We're that. We're that and then some."

Maliah Michel Show Magazine

My fave Maliah Michel is in Show Magazine. Make sure yall check that out. In the meanwhile.. check out this snippet..

Modeling was never something I wanted to do. I always been an exotic dancer and never thought I was pretty enough to model and way too heavy. I got my start when a well known producer (Erick White) who use to pop into the club I worked at talked me into doing a music video “Bad” Yin Yang Twins feat. Mike Jones. A few days later I did a shoot with a photographer out of Malibu Beach (Greg). Sean Cummings saw the video and contacted Greg about my pics. Sean set me up with Treagen Colston and Candice Jai from TKM girls. I had an awesome photo-shoot with them and from that point on things just started to happen.

Modeling came natural to me. being a dancer is a lot like modeling. U have to know what angles look best to the viewer, eye contact, being suggestive, ect. I really feel like they have worked hand in hand for me. The popularity I have gained in the club and out has been extremely rewarding. I am, my business. Maliah Michel Entertainment Inc. I have managed to make myself my biggest asset. I have been all over the country and even out of the US modeling. Ive been places and met people I never ever imagined I would. This experience has shown me that anything is possible and you dont always have to know where you are going in life. Just sincerely keep your heart in the right place and try to make the wisest decisions possible when opportunities come to you. Dont be afraid to try new and different things. Have YOUR personal rules, dont break them no matter how promising a situation looks and BE PATIENT.

Now I have my sites set on acting. I love it. Im just so shy. Odd right? A shy dancer/model. Truth is: talking with your body and talking with your mouth are two very different worlds. Acting is a huge outlet for me. I can escape from myself and be someone else for a little while. Its my therapy. I am also writing a book which will be about my life but in novel form. Hopefully it will inspire women like me to believe in themselves no matter how many people it seems are trying to drag you down. In addition to my book I am also putting together a series of dvds showing women how to be sexy for themselves in the form of dance. I say be sexy for themselves because once u master that, sexy becomes internal and we are our worst critics. When u r trying to please someone else (say your man) u tend to be concerned the whole time about what they think, u cant be genuine that way. But when you learn to let go and do what makes you feel utterly delicious ladies that mentality goes with you everywhere. Dancing is powerful. If women can learn to be sexy for themselves and have fun with it, it becomes second nature after all we are women and what in the whole world is sexier than a woman?

All of my future plans are in motion right now and Im confidant things are going to work out just fine. I have good people in my corner and great management (Amina @AminaDiop contact her for bookings)

Maaaan.. One of these days.. but in the meanwhile yall enjoy..

Beanie Sigel's fall from Roc-A-Fella records and subsequent beef with former friend and label head Jay-Z have been well-documented.

In a recent interview, the Broad Street Bully reflected on the beef. "It ain't really no situation right now," he explained. "At the end of the day, Jay, that's my brother, and will forever be my brother."

"We had a litte misunderstanding. [It was a] situation where I couldn't get to him, so I had to via emceeing. And that was it."

Magic Johnson Group Buys the Dodgers

Magic is looking to bring SHOWTIME to the Dodgers.

NEW YORK (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt has announced an agreement Monday night to sell the bankrupt team for $2 billion to a group that includes former Lakers star Magic Johnson and former Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals President Stan Kasten.

The agreement, revealed about five hours after Major League Baseball owners approved three finalists for the auction, is to lead to a transfer of the team by the end of April. It is subject to approval in federal bankruptcy court.

Mark Walter, chief executive officer of the financial services firm Guggenheim Partners would become the controlling owner. The price would be easily a record for a North American sports franchise.

As part of the agreement, the Dodgers said McCourt and “certain affiliates of the purchasers” would acquire the land surrounding Dodger Stadium for $150 million.

The acquiring group, called Guggenheim Baseball Management, includes Mandalay Entertainment chief executive Peter Guber.

“This agreement with Guggenheim reflects both the strength and future potential of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and assures that the Dodgers will have new ownership with deep local roots, which bodes well for the Dodgers, its fans and the Los Angeles community,”

McCourt said.

McCourt paid $430 million in 2004 to buy the team, Dodger Stadium and 250 acres of land that include the parking lots, from the Fox division of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., a sale that left the team with about $50 million in cash at the time. The team’s debt stood at $579 million as of January, according to a court filing, so even after the divorce payment, taxes and legal and banking fees, he stands to make several hundred million dollars.

Kasten is expected to wind up as the team’s top day-to-day executive.

The other two finalists were:

- Stan Kroenke, whose family properties own the NFL’s St. Louis Rams, the NBA’s Denver Nuggets, the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche and Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids, and who is majority shareholder of Arsenal in the English Premier League.

- Steven Cohen, founder of the hedge fund SAC Capital Advisors and a new limited partner of the New York Mets; biotechnology entrepreneur Patrick Soon-Shiong; and agent Arn Tellem of Wasserman Media Group.

“I am thrilled to be part of the historic Dodger franchise and intend to build on the fantastic foundation laid by Frank McCourt as we drive the Dodgers back to the front page of the sports section in our wonderful community of Los Angeles,”

Johnson said in a statement. Source SI

Power move..So Johnson adds the Dodgers to his recently acquired Soul Train,Comcast channel and other 700 million in businesses assets.

Magic is inspiring in many ways.. if you don't get that then.. well.. smh..

Lupe is NOT Doing Mixtapes Any More..Food & Liquor 2 Info

I remember I used to be a hardcore Lupe fan but somewhere along the lines this NEW guy came into the equation. Anyhoo, he states he will no longer do mixtapes, plus F.O.D. 2 news. Check it out.

Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco announced to a crowd in Portland, OR that he is done releasing mixtapes. Lupe acknowledged that fans have enjoyed his mixtapes thus far, but made it clear that he is no longer interested in releasing them.

"We got a long, illustrious career on the mixtape circuit, right? Some pretty groundbreaking things on those mixtapes, right?," Lupe told a crowd of Portland fans during a recent concert. "So, in light of that history of amazing, lyrical feats and superb wordsmith-ness, I am sad to say tonight that there will be no more Lupe Fiasco mixtapes.

The rapper also gave an update on his highly-anticipated album Food & Liquor 2.

"Second piece of announcements. ... Food & Liquor 2 is done. Release date? I don't know," he says. "Let's just say -- July. The only thing that's holding Food & Liquor 2 up -- is whether or not it's gonna be a double CD or not."

I'm glad the album is done. I will peep it. Anyhoo..one of my faves.

Laron Landry Disses Redskins Management

Ex Redskin now NY Jets Safety Laron Landry had issues with the Redskins management and took it to twitter. That IS what real folks do right. *sarcasm*

Nick Wass - Associated Press) An early sign that LaRon Landry’s Redskins tenure might end with bad feelings came last week, when the team signed free agent safety Brandon Meriweather. Not long after, Landry retweeted a comment from one of his followers that went like this:

[bleep] Meriwether I rather have @MrLandry30

Now, retweets do not necessarily imply endorsement. Maybe Landry was doing this to ironically point out that his followers don’t even know how to spell Meriweather’s last name. Maybe he was subtly marveling at the loyalty fans still feel toward players in a business that has seemed to crush all loyalty. Maybe he hit the wrong button.

But whatever. The team signed a safety and a potential new teammate, and Landry retweeted a comment cursing that man out.

Then this week came, and Landry signed with the Jets, and a few of his followers expressed dismay, and Landry retweeted their thoughts. And they weren’t kind to the Redskins. A sampling from his feed:

* [Landry] left my Skins for the Jets cause they weren’t smart enough to keep him!.... they just might regret it smh

* As a Redskins fan, [Landry] stepped up and helped us cope when we lost Sean. Now we lost him too...our team management makes me sick!

* i completely agree i am a skins fan for life but there maniging sucks

* we’ll always love you in DC . The management don’t know what they doing

* that’s what I’m talking bout homie big up to LL. Welcome to NY homie lets do the damn thing skins thank you for being stupid!!!!

* Redskins management was STUPID to let you go. Miracles happen and your foot would have healed. SMFH. I’m a Jets fan now. J-E-T-S

Ol Dirty Bastard Movie in the Works

It looks like a movie is in the works for Russell Jones aka Ol D B (Ol Dirty Bastard) Playing him is none other than Omar from The Wire. Check it out.

Actor Michael K. Williams has been tapped to star as fallen rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard in the film Dirty White Boy. Williams is best known for his roles as Omar on HBO's "The Wire" and Chalky White on "Boardwalk Empire." The film is being produced by company Parts & Labor (Beginners) with Ocean Side Pictures' Todd Hagopian and is based on a screenplay by Brent Hoff.

The film tells the story ODB through the eyes of a 22-year old VH1 employee named Jarred Weisfeld who becomes friends with the rapper. ODB's mother and Weisfeld have signed off on the project.

"We both knew full well who Ol' Dirty Bastard was but this story completely floored us. As filmmakers, we knew that this would make a great film and that Jarred Weisfeld would offer an actor a complicated and compelling character to play. This felt to us like 'Risky Business' and '8 Mile,' with equal elements of darkness, humor, and humanity," said Hagopian. "We are thrilled to have the genius of Joaquin Baca-Asay behind the camera, directing this incredibly original screenplay by Brent Hoff. I know Michael K. Williams will leave audiences completely in awe as Russell Jones, the man behind the character ‘Ol' Dirty Bastard."

I would be interested in seeing this.. he was a hella character and seems to have been the backbone of the Wu..IMO.. BUT.. nonetheless I hope this happens. He was too intriguing a guy.
