Ebro Darden On Combat Jack Show

Looks like Ebro (the music director for NYC's HOT97) is getting drug to the carpet for his comment about HOT97 being the "Major Leagues" and certain artist..Sean Price..Joey Bad@$$ are for the Minor Leagues" I thought NYC should support their artist like other markets but I guess that is not the case. Check out the interview

As much as some wanna get mad at the ARTIST... CHECK THE MACHINE.. all that to say if you looking for the radio to give you good music.. you a lazy listener..

Canibus Addresses The Controversy

Soooo.. outside the "Notepad" incident and saying he was abducted by aliens.. uhhh.. he people took to the streets to end this shyt..

Canibus is officially addressing the strange Tumblr post that was published yesterday (June 13th) and attributed to him. Following his embarrasing performance in a televised rap battle, a post was published on the site claiming that the reason for his poor showing was abduction and mental manipulation. The rapper's manager debunked the Tumblr post as a phony and now Canibus himself is saying that it was fake, as well.

"Just got my stitches out today," Canibus says in an official statement--referencing his recent shoulder surgery. "Will be going to therapy once a week for my AC injury. First time I've had a separated shoulder but I am expecting a full recovery in time. Also continuing work on the Rip The Jacker 2 DVD. Will continue to keep you all updated as things happen."

"Don't really know what to say concerning all these blogs, parodies, and fake accounts posting apologies about god knows what but I am moving forward for my Rippers and Hip Hop as best as I can," he continued. "Thank You for your good wishes and encouragement."

"Sometimes people need laughter and entertainment at the expense of others embarrassment but Hip Hop means so much to me I don't care," he says. "Diz is the champ. Please be kind to one another and don't forget we are all family in this Hip Hop Community whether we know it or not. Peace, Bis"

.....smh.. FUCKERY

Jay Z Discusses Hip Hop..And His Place In It

Like it or not.. Jay Z is and will be our modern day Mick Jagger w/ The Stones or Aerosmith.. He discusses Hip Hop and it's progression..

Jay-Z is one of the few hip hop elder statesmen still selling big--both on tours and on the charts. Jay announced his teaming with Budweiser for the "Made In America" festival, and as he preps for the big show he took the time to reflect on how his career has unfolded.

The rapper has gone from a being a promising rhymer from Brooklyn who's career was stalled by several false starts to arguably the most well-known hip hop star in the world and a business mogul.

"I'm not jaded by the whole process," he told MTV. "I'm a fan of the journey as well. I see myself as part of the collective of hip hop. I don't see myself as a thing that operates outside of it. So when I do these sort of things [like Budweiser's 'Made In America' Festival], I'm like, 'Man, we've come a long way.'"

That festival in Philly should be nice.. WHO GOIN??

Sugarhill Gang's "Rappers Delight" Being Honored

Prolly the biggest song in Hip Hop history..

The Library of Congress will be enshrining the pioneering hip hop single "Rapper's Delight" by the Sugarhill Gang this week. The seminal recording joins other hip hop recordings by artists like 2Pac and De La Soul in the Library, which preserves recordings deemed historically significant.

Also being honored are Donna Summer's 1977 hit "I Feel Love"; Prince's acclaimed Purple Rain album; as well as the first known commercial sound recording, dating to 1888 and 1930s and '40s news reports and speech excerpts from journalist Edward R. Murrow's "I Can Hear It Now" radio program.

25 sound recordings will be enshrined in the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry, library officials announced.

Congrats to the fellas.. WELL DESERVED

A Native Tounges Documentary

Looks like Video Director Benny Boom is looking to bring one of his (and mines) favorite hip hop collectives to the big screen. A documentary on the Natives Tounges. This is a group comprised of A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, The Jungle Brothers, Queen Latifah, & Monie Love.

Music video director Benny Boom is serving as a producer for a new documentary spotlighting the career and influence of beloved 90s hip hop collective the Native Tongues. The film, which will examine acts like The Jungle Brothers, De La Soul, Queen Latifah and A Tribe Called Quest, is due to be released this year.

The film could be seen as an unofficial sequel or complement to the critically-acclaimed 2011 A Tribe Called Quest documentary Beats Rhymes & Life.

Filmmaker Omar Akil is directing “Speaking In Tongues,” which is currently expected to have a fourth quarter 2012 release.

I would be down to see this as the ATCQ Documentary was great. Everyone knows "Buddy" real hip hop heads know this one..

QTip..Common.. and Now Nas Form The Standard

If this came to fruition many Hip Hop heads would grab their backpacks and unite..Check it out..

Rappers Common and Q-Tip announced back in 2007 that they were going to form a supergroup called The Standard and it looks like the project may finally be happening. In a surprising twist, another legendary emcee may be on board. Queensbridge rhymer Nas has reportedly joined the group, but the official plans for an album have not materialized as of yet.

The New York Daily News reports that Nas replied “Definitely,” when asked about recording with Common and Q-Tip.

Common just released The Dreamer, The Believer at the tail end of 2011 and both Q-Tip and Nas are currently recording upcoming albums.

A Tribe Called Quest Documentary Gets Honored

One of my fave hip hop groups of all times got honored for their documentary.. Check it out.

Beats, Rhymes & Life" the critically-acclaimed documentary about legendary hip hop act A Tribe Called Quest garnered a major award at the Producer's Guild of America Awards. The film took home the award for Best Documentary at the show. The awards honor producers who help create the best in film and television.
The film chronicled the beloved group's rise to fame in the 1990s, as well as the personal turmoil that ultimately led to them unexpectedly splitting at the end of the decade.
There have also been rumors that the film could be nominated for Best Feature Length Documentary at the 2012 Academy Awards next month

It's good to see the fellas getting some love.. now only if they could come together for another LP.. what yall think.. naaaaah.. it won't happen.. at least we got the movie..

YO! MTV RAPS IS BACK...

YO! is BACK.. for one night.. on MTV2..

Shouts to AllHipHop News

On Sunday, December 4th at midnight, MTV2 will be airing a 30-minute special called “Yo! MTV Raps Classic Cuts,” following the airing of the channel’s Sucker Free Awards show.

The retrospective episode will feature hosts Ed Lover, Dr. Dre, and Fab 5 Freddy, as well as artists like Ice Cube, Busta Rhymes, The Roots’ ?uestlove, Wiz Khalifa, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Fat Joe and DJ Premier, who will be remixing the show’s theme song.

When asked about the new special, former host Fab 5 Freddy said the show will take viewers back to a bygone era in hip-hop.

“In this Classic Cuts special, people will go back to a seminal time in hip-hop which many have called the ‘Golden Era’ – resulting in records that are as meaningful today as they were back then,” Fab 5 Freddy said. “In order to appreciate how far hip-hop has come, you have to pay respect to the songs and artists that helped catapult the genre from a small community of fans to world domination.”

Ed Lover, one of “Yo! MTV Raps’” other hosts, couldn’t be happier with the announcement.

“It’s a great moment to be re-connected with Yo! and examine the music that had a role in introducing hip-hop to music lovers globally,” Ed Lover said.

Yo! MTV Raps has often been credited as one of the sole mainstream influences that introduced Hip-Hop on a national level to households, through television.

The show, which aired on MTV between 1988 and 1995, introduced artists and acts like N.W.A., Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, Ice-T, and more to viewers and potential music consumers across the country.
“Yo! MTV Raps Classic Cuts” will air at midnight on December 4th, 2011
