Nas and superproducer Swizz Beatz collaborated on the track "Summer On Smash" from Nas' new Life Is Good album, and Swizz spoke to MTV News about the song and the chemistry the two hip hop veterans have in the studio.
"We collaborated on a couple of other joints also, it was a fun time working with my Virgo brother," Swizz explained. "I listened to the album and the whole entire album was super lyrical, it had all the different elements, I just think that it was perfect because it was dropping in the summer."
"You know as a producer you're a fan of the artist so you have stuff like, 'Yo I need him to do this,'" he added. "He missed out on a couple on this album that y'all gonna say that too, as well, but yo man Life Is Good."

Back in 2002 shyt was hot between Jay & Nas.. WELP.. Nas was gonna do a mock lynching.. Check it out..
Disturbing footage of Nas' planned 2002 mock-lynching of a Jay-Z effigy surfaced online last week, and so far neither rapper has spoken about the decade-old planned incident. Nas himself was recently asked about the footage and said that he is uncomfortable discussing it now.
"I really don't even want to acknowledge it," Nas told MTV News. "Everybody's in a different place. I don't even want to acknowledge it. I can't acknowledge that. Jay's my man, and that's that, that's all I'm gonna say."
Nas and Jay-Z were embroiled in a heated feud in the early 2000s and Nas planned to stage the 'lynching' during Summer Jam. Hot 97 didn't allow him to perform the controversial show.
I'm glad this never happened.. for many reasons.. I wont slander Nasir..
Nas is prepping his "Life Is Good" album.. and uhhh.. well.. people seemed to notice the veil he is holding. His ex wife Kelis had a greenish dress which was the same color...well he addesses it.
Rapper Nas broke his silence regarding his Life Is Good album cover, which features the emcee holding his the green wedding dress of his ex-wife--pop star Kelis--in his lap. The Queens-bred rhymer explained how the eye-brow raising image came about.
"Life, love, joy, anger, celebration. There's so many things you can see on that album cover. You see my life. My life is on that album cover," he said. "It just happened. It happened on its own. It was not a lot of effort at all."
He was asked if Kelis had responded to the image.
We just put it out, so it's still way too fresh," Nas repied. "[Will I hear from her about it?] Eventually at some point."
HA!!! I'm sure she will respond..but Nas never held back from personal strifes in his music..so.. kinda expected.
Hip Hop Icon Nas opens up about his past relationship to Kelis..
Rapper Nas rarely talks about his failed marriage to pop/R&B superstar Kelis, but the hip hop legend opened up in this months' issue of Complex about their bitter divorce and how the split affected him.
"There was a point where we were trying to hold onto a relationship that was finished," Nas says. "She was pregnant and in the studio while we were recording Distant Relatives, and he would move when the music would come on. That was a great feeling for me, just to have that feeling of family. It ended around the time the record was being done."
"There were times when it didn’t bother me, and there were times when it bothered me a lot," he added. "There were times when I was thinking, ‘Damn. I had this sh*t all planned out, and now I’ve failed’. That was hard on me, because I don’t like to fail at anything. Accepting that I failed at this relationship—and it was public—messed me up. You ask yourself, ‘How could that person be so cold’? And I’m sure she felt the same way about me. It was ugly."
Every man goes through this and if you haven't..WELP.. it will happen..but good to see nas is opening up about this part of his life as this shows he is at peace. Looking forward to this album by the way..
That album title alone probably pisses Kelis off.. they hate to see you happy sometimes...but anyhoo check out Nasir.
Nas appears to be focusing intensely on the upcoming release of his long-awaited Life Is Good album. The project will be Nas' first solo release since 2008, and he says that he knows this project will demand his attention. He still took a moment to reflect on his time with long-time partner, AZ.
"You know, we were doing an Illmatic show with Rock the Bells [last year]," Nas told XXL. "He came through and held a n*gga down. It's always good getting up with my n*gga. That album [Illmatic], we just had the 18th anniversary [in April]. We were just young bucks in the game, trying to get in. ... We'll always have that moment. It takes me back to the time when we were doing a lot of records together."
"But yeah, I've been four years away from a solo album," he added. "I'm just getting back into the game. Once I get back into the game, you never know what could happen."
I actually just heard this track and it touched me on a personal level but to some it didn't and GUESS WHO..
A lot of fans may have seen Nas' latest track "Daughters" as an honest and uplifting tribute to being a dad, but at least one person didn't take too kindly to the song. Nas' ex-girlfriend and baby mother, Carmen Bryan, blasted the rapper for putting out the song about their 18-year old daughter, Destiny.
"Just heard "Daughters" by Nas. What a disappointment!" Bryan tweeted. "He had nothing positive to say about our daughter and his depiction of her is false!"
Nas fans jumped on Bryan for her assessment of the song, with her asserting that many of them sounded 'childless.'
She also said that Destiny herself was not happy about the way the song depicted her.
Some women just do not want to see a man prosper and she is one of those miserable women who don't. THIS is why we have to be in our daughter's lives to balance out the.. ehh.. lemme stop. Check out the song. I think you might like and relate to it.
Nas has officially announced that his upcoming album, Life Is Good will be released on July 17th. The rapper's tenth album will be his first since 2008's Untitled, and fan anticipation has been high for the project.
“A lot of the tracks have been my ideas – like I would take an idea from one of the guys that I’m working with, and try and put it together with a different sound that I had in my head with someone else and just try to get people to collaborate that really aren’t used to working together and to get something differentfrom me.”
“This album is, of course, it’s been a long time, it’s been five years since I released a [solo] studio album, so this record is everything,” he told MTV. “This is everything that I’ve got to say…I guess you got to live a little, sometimes not all the time, but you’ve got to live a little and you put that in your music and it’s coming from my life.”
