“Power of Pu$$y” is a multi part documentary series about some of the most celebrated and vindicated individuals in our culture; strippers. These women are sometimes classified as lowlifes of society, many thought to be streetwalking drug fiends with no regard for others. Some are thought to be impressionable young women, taken advantage of by men overseeing a seedy underworld.


These are assumptions often made without any context from the women who live this life. This short documentary is a small look at a world many have only heard about, shedding light on how things really work for many women who have put on a g-string at some point in their lives. The first episode introduces us to GiGi Maguire, Cali and Simone, all dance or have danced at nationally renowned club Magic City. What does one have to possess to even begin navigating the business of strip; these ladies shine light on that question and others.

Beyonce To Drop Documentary In February 2013

Looks like Bey will be directing her first documentary coming to HBO in February 2013.

Beyonce will star in and direct her own HBO documentary. The network will debut the project on February 16th, 2013, and the documentary will chronicle the superstar's life and career.


According to a Facebook post, the film will be a "fusion of video that provides raw, unprecedented access to the private entertainment icon and high-voltage performances."

In the footage, Beyonce "reflects on the realities of celebrity, the refuge she finds onstage and the transcendent joy of becoming a mother last year."

“Everybody knows Beyoncé’s music, but few know Beyoncé the person,” said Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming. “Along with electrifying footage of Beyoncé onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman.”

Will Smith..Jay Z Link Up For Angela Davis Documentary

Looks like two of my personal faves are linking up again..this time to collab on a documentary for Black Power leader Angela Davis. Check it out.

Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment and Jay-Z's Roc Nation are partnering to support the release of Free Angela & All Political Prisoners, a documentary directed by Shola Lynch. According to deadline, the doc will be shown at the Toronto Film Festival.


The documentary follows Davis' well documented 1970s case and acquittal. An activist and scholar, Davis was barred from teaching at UCLA, and was later accused of being involved in a courtroom shooting in Marin County, CA., for which she was later acquitted.

“We at Overbrook Entertainment are very proud to support this intriguing documentary about the life of Angela Davis. Filmmaker, Shola Lynch has done an incredible job in revealing a piece of American history we thought we all knew,” Jada Pinkett Smith explained in a press release.

"Shola Lynch has crafted an intricate and compelling film about Angela Davis," Jay-Z shared. "Roc Nation is honored to be a part of a creative collective that can present such a riveting story."

Actor Michael K. Williams spoke to MTV about portraying the late Ol' Dirty Bastard in Dirty White Boy, which is currently filming. Williams, famous for his edgy roles on "The Wire" and "Boardwalk Empire," revealed how he prepped for the project.



"I am doing a lot of research on Russell," he said. "I had the pleasure of meeting his beautiful mother, Ms. Cherry. We sat down for, like, three hours, and she told me the most amazing stuff about her son and a lot of things that the public didn't know. I've been talking to people who know him well ... people who knew him when the cameras wasn't rolling. I've got a lot of insight into who he was as a human being and as a man and, dare I say it, scholar. The dude was actually quite smart. You have to be able to recite mathematics and be five percent God body — you can't play with that. You have to know what you're talking about. It's a lot of studying, a lot of knowledge."


"It's drama, but if you know ODB, there's going to be some comedy, but we're not playing to that. It's going to be shot as a straight piece, no buffoonery, for lack of a better word," Williams said. "It's only going to cover the last two years of his life when he was released from prison to the day he died. It's just an insight into what he struggled with in the public eye."

F. Gary Gray Tied to N.W.A. Film??

The last I heard it was Director John Singleton heading this one up but it looks like that could/possibly be changing? Check it out.

Famed director F. Gary Gray is the latest name to be attached to the forthcoming biopic about legendary gangsta rap group N.W.A. Gray is reportedly now attached to the film, titled Straight Outta Compton. Gray previously directed a wide range of films, from comedies like Friday to action flicks like The Negotiator.



Gray also directed a number of hip hop videos, including former N.W.A. star Ice Cube's classic "It Was A Good Day." Cube also starred in Friday.


Gray's involvement with the project has not been officially announced, however. Boyz N the Hood director John Singleton was also formerly attached to the project.

Gray of course worked with Cube with the first Friday movie, he was actually in the movie as well. End of the day, I would love to see this movie come to teh big screen. Hip Hop is growing up is many ways.

A Native Tounges Documentary

Looks like Video Director Benny Boom is looking to bring one of his (and mines) favorite hip hop collectives to the big screen. A documentary on the Natives Tounges. This is a group comprised of A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, The Jungle Brothers, Queen Latifah, & Monie Love.

Music video director Benny Boom is serving as a producer for a new documentary spotlighting the career and influence of beloved 90s hip hop collective the Native Tongues. The film, which will examine acts like The Jungle Brothers, De La Soul, Queen Latifah and A Tribe Called Quest, is due to be released this year.



The film could be seen as an unofficial sequel or complement to the critically-acclaimed 2011 A Tribe Called Quest documentary Beats Rhymes & Life.


Filmmaker Omar Akil is directing “Speaking In Tongues,” which is currently expected to have a fourth quarter 2012 release.

I would be down to see this as the ATCQ Documentary was great. Everyone knows "Buddy" real hip hop heads know this one..

Heavy D Documentary.. Coming Soon

The gone but not forgotten Heavy D has a documentary that should be coming to us soon.. Check it out..

Late rapper Heavy D is the subject an hour-long documentary that is to air in late February. The doc, Be Inspired features interviews from notables ranging from Mary J. Blige to Will Smith as they recount their experiences with the much-beloved and respected hip hop star.



Queen Latifah, Brett Ratner, MC Lyte, and several other stars and family members share stories about Heavy. Will Smith discusses their transitions from hip hop to Hollywood. It also includes vintage performance footage
