Lupe Takes Shots At President Obama
I swear this nicca's publicist should get PAID
Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco is known for speaking his mind and sometimes inciting controversy--and the passionate emcee once again set his sights on President Barack Obama and his administration. In an interview with Philadelphia's Power 99 FM's Mina SayWhat, Fiasco reiterated his criticisms of the President and his foreign policy.
"One hand, you have someone who is a great speaker, but kills little children - our president," he said. "I'm not talking about an accident--I'm talking about ordering a drone attack. Ordering drone attacks that go and kill mothers, innocent bystanders, children. Militants too, but the collateral damage. You're responsible for that, too."
"Drug dealer can say the same thing," Lupe said when asked if he thought these casualties were intentional. "I didn't mean to kill all the people in the restaurant. I was just trying to get that one dude who killed my cousin. Just so happened that that little girl was there. Same thing."
REALLY starting to not like hommie.. like forreal.. smh..

Lupe Fiasco To Go Indie
Looks like Lupe is looking forward to going the indie route..
Lupe Fiasco, in a frank interview with The Breakfast Club, revealed that he's looking forward to wrapping up his major label contract with Atlantic Records. The rapper's disputes with his label have been well-documented over the years, and he says that after his next album on Atlantic, he will be taking the independent route.
"We're coming toward the end of our relationship so it's like a going away party," he said. "After this album, I got one [album] left. So, it's all good for now. They give me my room. I'm definitely not going back into the majors. I'm definitely going indie when we're done."
"It was never meant to be a big radio kind of record, kind of like Lasers was with big radio records," he shared. "This is more like a core Hip Hop joint so we have room to throw six records out."
I was/is/kinda a Lupe fan.. Dude makes some good music and I usually don't care what cats do outside the music.. but he has done alot of shyt.. anyhoo.. I think is is the best move for em..

Lupe Addressed The T.R.O.Y. Sample/Pete Rock AGAIN..
WELP.. Lupe addressed it again..
Lupe Fiasco again addressed the controversy over his single "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)" and its sampling of the Pete Rock & CL Smooth classic "They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)" Pete Rock blasted Lupe and the song via Twitter, and Lupe said he had no idea that Rock would react so harshly.
"That was a little unexpected, seeing as we already reached out to him to get his blessing and all that. We went and did it," he said. "Especially because of what it means to him and what it represents to him and how deep, how personal the record is for him. At the same time, too, with Heavy D passing and all that stuff, we tried to be as sensitive as possible with it and make sure that we represent it correctly. But there are so many remakes of ‘T.R.O.Y.’ out there. That's what was surprising."
"Nah. The friends and family is dealing with that. They’re the ones who put that together, so I’m kind of like a third party in it," he added. "But the people who initially reached out to him from my camp to his camp, I guess they was on the phone last night trying to figure out what was going on. It was a shock to me and it’s best for me to fall back."
He makes very valid points.. BUT for ME personally.. I'm not doing no mo blogs on this shyt mane..

Lupe Fiasco Responds To The T.R.O.Y. Sample
WELP.. That didnt take long.. Lupe responds..
Lupe Fiasco experienced something of a backlash from some hip hop fans and superproducer Pete Rock for sampling the Pete Rock & CL Smooth classic "They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)" Despite the outrage on some quarters that he would use such an iconic song for his new single "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)," Lupe explained how and why he jumped at the chance to do the song.
"All the credit goes to my partner and manager Chill, he just felt like it was time to bring back a joint," he said. "Go back and take one of the iconic records of hip-hop and put a new spin on it and put it back out there. I spit on it a couple times before, some mixtape stuff back in the day, Chill felt it needed a bigger look than that."
Lupe is currently prepping his fourth album Food & Liquor II for release.
Sooo.. there it is.. what yall think??
Pete Rock is PISSED At Lupe Fiasco
WELP.. Looks like Lupe done pissed off Pete Rock for using the "T.R.O.Y." sample.. check it out.
Lupe Fiasco debuted his new single "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)" today (May 21st), but the song drew the outrage of hip hop producer Pete Rock. The song samples the classic Pete Rock & CL Smooth tune "They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)" and Rock blasted Lupe via Twitter for using the sample.
"No disrespect to lupe fiasco and i like him alot but TROY should be left alone. Feel so violated, the beat is next to my heart and was made... Outta anguish and pain. When it's like that it should not be touched by no one!" he wrote. "It's so hard for folks to make original music, I possess that, but these dudes are scared of that and this is supposed to be HIP HOP?"
"Man I'm a lupe fan and everything but TROY was my homie man. I think about him and Hev every fucking day!!!! Smh," he continued. "Who ever Re-created that didn't do a good job @ all. #nohate."
"This business can be so lame, sometimes I make beats blindfolded with one hand tied behind my back and still these cats can't be original to," he wrote. "So untalented and unoriginal. Makes me feel like I'm truly the best that ever did it. Yo hev and t-Roy I love and miss da shit outta y'all."
I dunno.. on one hand I feel like Lupe not doing nothing silly with the sample.. but on the other hand..I feel like Pete is entitled to feel this way being that the song is so personal for him. I think once they chop it up..this could get squashed. Anyhoo.. check out the song..

Lupe is NOT Doing Mixtapes Any More..Food & Liquor 2 Info
I remember I used to be a hardcore Lupe fan but somewhere along the lines this NEW guy came into the equation. Anyhoo, he states he will no longer do mixtapes, plus F.O.D. 2 news. Check it out.
Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco announced to a crowd in Portland, OR that he is done releasing mixtapes. Lupe acknowledged that fans have enjoyed his mixtapes thus far, but made it clear that he is no longer interested in releasing them.
"We got a long, illustrious career on the mixtape circuit, right? Some pretty groundbreaking things on those mixtapes, right?," Lupe told a crowd of Portland fans during a recent concert. "So, in light of that history of amazing, lyrical feats and superb wordsmith-ness, I am sad to say tonight that there will be no more Lupe Fiasco mixtapes.
The rapper also gave an update on his highly-anticipated album Food & Liquor 2.
"Second piece of announcements. ... Food & Liquor 2 is done. Release date? I don't know," he says. "Let's just say -- July. The only thing that's holding Food & Liquor 2 up -- is whether or not it's gonna be a double CD or not."
I'm glad the album is done. I will peep it. Anyhoo..one of my faves.
